Platinum?
Doubts it, Ralph... a sea find could be an ingot as a lot of WW2 shipping carried metal as ingots (as Cussler) but they don't have holes.
In my area, the gold in the Peace River system carries 10 % platinum, in the area south of Princeton, BC, nuggets as big as 10 oz were found during the gold rush in that area, c. 1800s.
Platinum is yellow-gray, very lustrous, like gold and weakly magnetic because of magnetite inclusions or?? And... its worth a lot more than gold yet doesnt take as much to make an ounce... very distinctive stuff, if you ever saw it you would know it again.
WSMC is probably something or other machine company.
Don't know if it helps.
