Bryan,

Your knowledge goes far beyond mine.

I just have a hunger to figger out tha

whole of what was goin on at a site.

Yes, I would look for more finds.

Try to figger out what was goin on.

Are there other large stones?

Are they tar covered?

Maybe they could have been used for

something that got the tar on them.

Logging?

Loggers use cables.

There are lots of possibilities.

HH,

Tabdog

TAR represent a hidden object and if it was on the stone means try to find a stone nearby that has similarity with that stone, perhaps a big boulder. note that there has to be a tar on that rock too..pry and check inside if whats hidden there,,im not saying that treasure but there has to be something there....tar represent a human activity....

Gener;

I dont know.... you should take it easy, with those bigger stones.... In Iceland, some people think, seriously, that little people live it the big stones and rock.

If you are not careful, somebody could get upset! (Hey! Im just kidding a little, cant be serious ALL the time.)

LOOK FOR TAR!

japanese din't use tar in treasure cache. the stone u found was used in tire changing in vehicle. try to get sample and bring to nearest laboratory to identify, its not tar, its hardened grease or oil from vehicle.

Grease is what I was thinking.

Where you have cables and such, there is usually grease.

More investigation should shed some light on it.

ram;

Good suggestion.... I was leaning towards the motor vehicle idea, there may have been a motor pool - repair depot, on that spot. It needs to be checked out.... if such information is available, now, if so, then it is NOT likely there will be any treasure cache, at least not right there.

I was thinking:- differential or transmission oil, which is very dark and heavy, to begin with, and 60 some years could make it into a very tar-like substance!

Well it depends if how deep this "STRANGE LOOKING NATURAL ROCK", If its just found a mere inches below the surface then it could be just be a grease fallen from side-road repaired truck but if it was found beneath the surface at more than a meter then you have to have a conclusion and i assured that NO treasure or any important thing underneath of that rock,,it has to be somewhere else nearby,,,it could be a tomb!-im not sure...
