Hello Pearl,

welcome to our forum. Personally I believe that the Yamashita treasure is more myth than reality. I am sure that there is some WWII loot to be found in the Philippines but not to the extend as claimed by many people. To my knowledge the only successfully recovery came from a shipwreck, salvaged by Robert Curtis in the favor of Ferdinand Marcos.

Are you looking for the Yamashita Treasure yourself?

Regards,

Christian

Much has been said about these 'yamashita treasure' i for myself believe it does exist....from the stories of the old folks from our tribes and associating with ww2 veterans turned thunters, hearing all what they say is enough to flare up your desire to try your luck. There are those who are lucky enough to have share on it but i have observe that they do not brag for all to know, they keep quiet and enjoy whatever they found. But for the big ones that are documented, let those who are in power and means do the recovery but for the small ones its for those who have the knowledge about it and for those who are far from action just enjoy reading what is being posted in this forum.

I am with Christian , the Yamashita story is a myth . Of course if you can keep it alive you may make some money from gullable people and romantics . Did you guys that are talking about these treasures even know the tru story about the Japanese occupation of the Philipines ? Cornelius

of course its the Filipinos for they are the ones who are occupied, they are the ones who experienced first hand what it means to be under the Japanese Army at that time. I did not live at that time so i cannot say much about the occupation but with the advent of internet you can read all the historical facts about ww2.
Regarding the yamashita treasure, the big volumes, thousands of gold bars that is circulating at the internet to lure as Mr. Cornelius said the guillable, romantic and i may add the dreamer, its up to the individual if they succumb to it, agree with it or not. I for one, join this forum to learn, by reading the opinion, experiences of others who encounter the hardship of digging, and in that way i can apply it with my present project and to share also mine so others may learn.

Does the Yamas*ita treasure exist? In my opinion, no.
Are there trap-ridden bunkers and tunnels left over from WW2? Yes.
Are there small caches of buried and forgotten gold? Yes.
Is there a whole sub-industry devoted to conning people with fake maps, fake gold bars, "Japanese treasure-code" books and fake "treasure" sites? YES! Heck, I could write a book on that sub-industry.

SO, how did this "Yamas*ita treasure" myth come to be? Some tales grow bigger in the telling. I have a theory:

Imagine if you will, that you are a WW2-era civilian without a scientific background. You are conscripted as slave-labor by the Japanese army, and put to work carrying and stacking all these bars of gold-colored metal. Somehow you survive the inhuman conditions and after the war is over, you want to get your hands on some of that "gold". Not being aware of things like specific gravity, anything that looks like gold MUST be gold to you. And the tale grows in the telling.

Want to see those "gold" bars? It's actually an alloy of lithium, aluminum and copper

I don't know if I posted the video link correctly. In case I didn't, please search at youtube.com for my video titled "Stuff found".
The Philippines does have great treasures: it's wonderful people. And the greatest treasure you can ever have is your life. Live clean, live well and be safe.

It can be expected much from everybody the qustion of whether YAMASHITA Treasures really existed and was hidden in different places in the Philippines?Huh? The fact is, Gen. Yamashita ransacted the Southeast Asian region, that's where he got the name "TIGER OF THE HIMALAYAS". All valuable items especially gold-based items from occupied countries were confiscated from different within the said region and were stockpiled in the Philippines. In the closing days of the war, the Japanese tried to smuggle them out through the backdoor channels of the Northern Luzon (Lingayen Gulf) but were ambushed time and again by the USAFFE. A conservative estimated 75% of the YAMASHITA treasure remained in the country.

The rationale being, the Japanese government would have compromised in a surrender settlement to give up all other countries occupied during WWII and retain the Philippines as a colony (bades on research on WWII strategies of Japan). So, one can just use his imagination!!!!
