Go Up Go Down

Hi! My friend gifted me this bottle they found today (knowing that I would enjoy learning more about it). I have found that it was made from Owens-Illinois, at New Jersey plant #14, and is a frosted glass W & A Gilbey Gin 1.75 liter handled bottle. I read that the bottoms are date stamped with the year, but am not sure... says 55 78 with 824 underneath. Would love to know the exact year and any information to go along with such a sweet gift. Ideas on cleaning bottles? Thanks and Happy Hunting!

muttpuppy The liquor company's changed from pints, 1/2 gal etc to liters in the 1970's  so if your bottle is mark 1.75  liters i am guessing  its a 1978.

I can see how that could be true, after just one bottle and one evening of internet research! This bottle would be nice to make special drinks in, if I had a lid that fit it...
