Got Lucky. My cousin is a big flea market man and told me he had some old jars out in the shed. Told me to take what I wanted!

A little known fact about Mason jars is that they are only used in the Northern States. The Southern States use Dixon jars.

Very Funny! I guess mine are Dixon Jars since I'm just south of the Mason-Dixon line!

Go Up Go Down

There never was a civil war at all.  The reason is that a civil war is defined as two compteting factions attempting to take control of the same government.  That did not happen in the US.  The war between the states was a controversy that arose from some soveriegn states banding together to form their own and separate federal government, seceding from the existing government control that they felt was overburdoning.  They never attempted to take control of the existing federal government.

Before we get involved in the subject of slavery, I won't argue that point.  Slavery had everything and nothing to do with it all at the same time.  The bottom is line is that the issue was all about the federal governments attempts to control the rights of the sovreignty of the states.  The federal government is still doing it today.  They're just a lot more subtle about it.  "Set your speed limits/drinking age/seat belt regulations to our mandated limits or you won't receive any more federal highway funds"... that sort of stuff.  Never mind that the citizens of the states contributed to the pool that all that money came from... if you don't toe the federal line, you lose.

I doubt that there will every be another internal war in the US, at least not in my lifetime, because too many people have just cowed down to the federal government and become completely submissive to whatever they tell us to do... but that's not the way this country was founded.

Sorry about that.  Nice Jars Smiley
