Go Up Go Down

While I was picking up the last of the bottles from my friend's Grandmother and her friends Saturday, they told me about a place that I needed to check out.  It was king of a antigue/junk store off the main road.  I got down loading up my vanand decided to head over there.  There was a huge shelving unit full of insulators and I ended up buying 6 of those.  Pics posted under insulators thread.)

The owner asked me what I was interested in.  I told him that I had come up to pick up the last load of bottles from a friend's Grandmother.  He said he had something that I might be interested in!  So we went out back and there was a pallet full of boxes with bottles!  He said he's make me a great deal if I took them all!  So we worked out a price and I have been cleaning bottles ever since I got home Saturday afternoon!

Here are the pics so far.  Keep in mind, this is ONLY about a 1/3 of the bottles I ended up with!

My van is still loaded with boxes.  In fact, it doesn't even look like I cleared anything out!   Shocked

When you get bit by the bug, you get bit good, don't you?    You've got some really interesting specimens there

It all started because a friend of mine didn't want to mess with his Grandmother's bottles in her shed.  He told me that there were aabout 40 old bottles inher shed, andif I didn't want them, they would end up in a land fill!  He figured that I'd go and get them and he wouldn't have to mess with them. (OF course, he was right.)  Actually what his Grandmother has asked hiem was, would he come up and box them up and take them to a recycle place.

Then Grandmama and I ended up getting the last laugh.  She asked him to bring down bottles that were up int he crawlspace above the garage for me. (Keep in mind, Charlotte, NC has seen 26 days of +90 degree weather and +80% humidity!   Shocked)

Then a couple of her friends brought over bottles for me!  I was getting the last load when they brought up the antique store.  (I took all of them a nice bottle of Rose' for their bottles.)

3 weeks ago my collecting of bottles was limited to having 6, 7Up bottles that had to do events in Indiana.  2 (Notre Dame Football championships. 73 & 77) 2 bottles saluting Indiana State's/Larry Bird Final Four appearance (My alma matre and I graduated in 1979), a 2 (1978 & 1979) Indy 500 bottles.  That was the extent of my bottle collecting!   Smiley

Now I have 6-8 times that!   Shocked

Thanks!

Plans are right now is to keep cleaning the bottles.  However, Treasure Seekers Int'l isn't in the business to hang onto treasure.

Since I was the one that discovered all the bottles, I control their future.  I will probably hang onto 4 each of the soda bottles and their variations.  I have about 6-10 medicen bottles I have set aside to keep, and a few obscure bottles.  (I have a German 2 headed Eagle on what I think is a wine bottle, but all the writing on the bottle is in English.  I just have't had time to research it.  The guy said that there was a box of milk bottles, but I haven't run across any yet.

I don't have the room to store all these bottles!  (There will be, when I get all cleaned and inspected, 400-600 bottles!)

So if there is a bottle you like, ask about it.  Chances are, it's for sale.

Also check out ebay.  This weekend I will be listing approximately 40 bottle lots on there.

Here's the start of Lot #1  (Right not there are aobut 30 bottles, but I have more boxes to clean!) All brown bottles, There are liquor, beer, Clorox, Texsize, pill and even coffee creamer and cider vinegar bottles.

Lot #2. (Right now there are about 30 bottles, but like the brown ones, I have more boxes to clean!) Liquor, pill makeup (Cheeseboro Ponds),  Coke, asprin, perfume, Catsup/Ketchup bottles (3 sizes - Delmonte & Heinz) Apple juice, even a chili powder, cheesewiz bottle  and a couple of Testors paint bottles, even a syrup bottle!
