........well, except for a few modern beer bottles that were probably less than a couple of weeks old and a mayonnaise jar of indeterminate age.   This one was on its side just under the surface with just a small portion of the bottle showing through the soil surface.   (Keep in mind that where I found it most finds were either surface or just under the surface as the false bed rock was only about 2 to 4 inches down and there isn't a lot of moisture to move soil except in the washes.).
9 ounces of liquid fills the bottle to the middle of the neck.   When I dug this out of the ground, it looked like the seams ended at the shoulder with no seams on the neck.   However, after cleaning the bottle to the point pictured, it's clear that there are seams that extend from the shoulder to the bottom of the lip---but those seams appear to have been fire polished in an attempt to make them disappear.  This is also supported by the way the glass is aging in the neck as opposed to the body.   There are bubble imperfections several places in the glass (especially around the base) which I tried to capture.   There are also 4 slightly raised bumps on the shoulders----one each on each side of the seams equidistant from the seams (clearly part of the mold process).   There are NO identifying marks of any type anywhere on the bottle.
All in all, I think it  has a place on my shelf.   Smiley

BA

Thanks, Seldom.   The 1880's to 1910's would definitely be the right time period for the bottle based on the site.   Since it's not embossed, I assume it probably had one or more paper labels at one time---which fits with how hard parts of it (like the neck) are to clean up.

That plus minis really aren't my style (unless they're on some sweet young thing).
