A six foot thick slab of cement that would cover the entry to a vault, say 10x10 feet would require 6 full cement mixers all queued up to dump cement onto formers that would later have to be removed. In the heat of battle, the soldiers would be moving gold bars into the vault and getting the 6 foot cover ready to be poured at the same time. Then, when they got tired, fresh soldiers would go down and continue at the 21 foot level loading more and more gold bars. The tired soldiers would have to go back to the front lines and fight their enemy. I suppose a few of them might also guard the trucks in the queue waiting to pour the cement.

In a pitched air, land and sea battle, I can see that happening.

Anyone else?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
