Hello All

Somewhere in the South west slopes of N.S.W near Crookwell lies a potential diamond pipe awaiting discovery. The small rivers in the area have sapphire, zircons and diamonds in the gravel wash.

It was first reported in 1925 that a local land owner T J Mac Cormack A local land owner had discovered gold and traces of diamonds on his property on the bend of a river called the lost river near Crookwell.

What is interesting at the time a mining geological report states that some where is the region could lay a productive diamond pipe awaiting a fabulous discovery. Strange enough the area was never fully explored for diamonds.Today Mac Cormack's descendants still live in the area and still farm the region.

A later pioneer  Ron Perry an expert on gems in Australia said in the late 1950's also claimed another area nearby in a place called Mittagong small diamonds could be found in the river gravels. The exact area of this diamond pipe is mystery.

Further south is a place called Grabben Gullen that even today has an active fossicking reserve for gemstones.

There are many small creeks hidden away in the area to sift through the gravels and who knows you could just be lucky enough and find some diamonds.
