The price is right, and hows the buoyancy or does the handle float?

Thanks- Great

the handle is boyant just enough if it falls in you can grab it in time before the surf carries it off, the scoop will sink and act as a sort of anchor leaving the handle upright, helpful in cloudy water........ Cool

that lifts & rights itself, with the scoop of the proper weight & mass to sink and stay on the sand.

Congrats & appreciated-  Wink

of fish, as well as other meats of the range.

BTW, hows that Tesoro Silver Umax work for you?
If you could, would you tell me a little about it, I know it has a sweet silver tone sound when she locks on the target, but how do you go about determining depth of the target with it, any tricks like lifting the machine upward till the tone starts to fade, and that height is about the depth of the target in the ground?

Thanks, and appreciated-
Jim

the silver umax is a unique machine, it will detect coins the size of quarters & 10'' , this also goes for rings, simply put double beep in one direction & single solid 90 degrees opposing direction. tones are very distinct as in when you hit a coin @ say less 7 to 8'' any more and its still solid but shorter in duration, the key thing is they have to be repeatable in all directions, as for lowering the coil you get a pretty decent idea about the depth of an item as you approach it, just note where the tone starts when you lower the coil, then to be certain swing at the elevated height the tone appears on the way down, as always the signal has to be repeatable. Cool

Go Up Go Down

I received your post because I once posted on the nicely engineered homemade sand basket. Now, I don't miss an opportunity to talk about the BH Pioneer 505. That baby is a coin and silver monster!! I have put my Minelab Safari to compete against it in retrieving coins and the 505 beats the Minelab by the classical mile. While you can dig out tons of trash with the Minelab (it beeps at everything no matter what), I dig out a lot more coins with the 505. Not saying that the Safari is not good. The Safari is also a monster on it own terms. It can go much depper than the 505 and it finds good stuff as well. However, I leave the Safari for special or sophisticated jobs like hunting for caches and on the beach for really deep treasures.
