Malc, gold rings, US 5c pieces and pull tabs are almost identical to metal detectors. Not sure about British coins though. Try it when beach hunting. The truth be told, you will dig LOTS of trash but your keeper pockets will be fuller than normal. It took a while for my body to accustom itself to all that kneeling and standing but now I can go 4 to 6 hours with only a few breaks. In the water, I can go for longer.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Pulltabs over her sound as sweet as a coin so i still manage to dig them in the hundreds roughly 25-30 per coin.Been setting discrim to Knock out deep iron because the beach where i am is loaded with it.Still gonna give all metal a try though. As people always say you never know what you might be missing.

1236X2 should be good on the beach, check the Fisher site for good settings for it .

I Feel it's best to not use discrimination at the beach to elude the iron hits because they can often be very close to and mask a good target . Granted it can get tiring digging up a bunch of iron on the beach but it could be masking that rare cob or gold doubloon I'm looking for. So no discrim for me, dig it.

Well i guess digging more signals means chance of getting better find is greater. My beach that i've tried are full of foils from BBQ wrapping  Undecided  and when the waves comes they will break into smaller pieces which makes more digging meaning more knee bending. Sigh!
