Please Register or Login    The best thing to do with this puzzle is to leave it alone! A lot of people have spent their whole life working on it. Once you start finding the clues your "hooked"! Got 30 somethin years invested myself and my father did the same thing until his death! "Leave it alone"!

YO!  Rebel here (with "High-Test"...  ;D...); GREAT "site" kydave... Bedford County, Va. (site of infamous Beale Treasure...), ALSO had two villages of TORIES... New London near the City of Lynchburg, and Charlemont near the Peaks of Otter; there was even a "Whipping Post" set up by the Patriots to whip the Tories to "frothing madness"... ANYWAY... THANKS, kydave, for letting us know of THIS "site"; y'all come on over to Rockster's "site", too... 8)  (sunny & WINDY out...).

Larry:
I find it interesting to see the various views people have regarding the Beale cyphers.  Crowsnest1 was frustrated by the fact that the code numbers go higher than the word count in the Declaration of Independence.  Did he consider other documents or books?  Stringfrenzy thinks the cache was the cash the author made on the sales of the pamphlets.  Did he forget there was a fire that destroyed the printer's shop and storeroom?  Goldfinger was correct when he said there was no record of large shipments of gold and silver from the west during this time period.  He was also correct when he stated that a noted cryptologist using the latest computer technology was unable to solve the codes.  Computers use logic to solve problems.  A multiple substitution book cipher would be unbreakable unless you had the "key".  Larry
