Hijo, think about something for just a few minutes. Imagine you are a Japanese soldier at the end of WWII, being pursued by an enemy that you believe wants to kill you. You are tasked with guarding a treasure of gold. Are you seriously going to tell me that you would dig a hole 40 feet deep, which would take you months of your time, or are you going to run like the wind to escape capture and possibly death?
The Japanese did not bury deep treasure. In fact, they buried very little treasure. Rumors and fairy tales abound in the Philippines and many people have lost their lives or suffered horribly from pursuing something that simply is not there. Just get a good metal detector and search for some archaeologically significant items or lost jewelry of recent manufacture. You'll be a lot better for it.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
Let's Talk Treasure!
