I never touch the sensitivity on my unit, it uses a Plus or minus touch key pad indicator

I usually detect in Program select mode:  these ranges are P1 through P4,

P4 being the one with the most desecration I'm thinking it s for gold

My question is if I'm using the  programmed mode, is sensitivity mode automatically turned off,  can any one explain this feature

From reading the manual I would say that mode#4 turns the detector to motion all metal with no discrimination. It advises to ground balance in this mode. The other modes are motion discrimination that will use pre-set ground balance. The pin-point mode is no-motion all metal. For gold mode#4 dig all targets in a gold producing area, then switch to pinpoint to zero in a little closer. The small 4 inch coil would also be a good choice for BH gold hunting.

There are some very experienced users and factory folks at the BH forum and they will set you straight.
