Go Up Go Down

I just got a new  BH Platinum and have taken it to the lake for the last two day's. It is very rocky here I am in north east Oklahoma and any time I use I get readings of quarter which according to the book is silver coins or at least a quarter. the rerading is consistent but after digging the three inches shown I get the same reading at another three inches. I do the ground grab right but still get the same reading, after digging a nice grave well almost but I did go a foot deep and still no silver or money of any kind. It is the standard 8 inch concentric coil. What is it that I am doing wrong or is it the rocky ground. Even since it is rocky the ground grab should have eleminated the rock's in the ground, right or wrong? Should I get the garrett AT Pro or is there an answer to my problem here? Please help if ya can thnx....Danny
What would be my best detector for such rocky soil?

When I read the subject line, I thought that Rocky Terrain should go up against Apollo Creed since he's pretty old by now.

Kidding aside, what you might be encountering is mineralized sand. If you are at a lake shore, for example, bring along a plastic pail and shovel your sand onto that bucket while it is upside down. Keep heaping it on until you have a good sized mound and see how your detector reacts. Also, keep in mind that deep, larger objects like aluminum cans can often sound like a coin and your machine can interpret it as one. Don't give up. You'll figure it out and in the end, you will be a better detectorist for it.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
