Go Up Go Down

I had reconcidered posting a new topic off an old one.
I have had the same Idea of MD downstream of the Boulder dam since the water level is not affected by the lake mead.  My idea is that the workers of the dam in the 1930's had buried cache's from their paycheck, if they did not loose it at the Las Vegas Casino's Funny.

This was during the Great Depression. What little hard cash most of them had left over after room and board was sent home to family.

I just remembered, the sunken city is now un-sunk. the water level is down in lake mead so much that the city is now available and it was from before the dam.

Actually, there are stories of several caches and missing mines in that area that pre-date the dam.....plus a couple of bootlegger caches.   Do a search on Eldorado Canyon and on Black Canyon with Colorado River and you should find some hits.

A lot of treasure hunters look for CCC and WPA sites for buried caches. You probably won't find a huge chest of coins but small caches are found with some regularity.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Last info we got from a Ranger is that the Lake and river are OFF LIMITS due to being Forest Service Land
A group was at eldorado and asked, was told NO WAY YOU CAN DETECT or even take rocks found on the surface.

I'm not disagreeing with you, rj, but the fact that something is "Forest Service Land" does not make it in and of itself off-limits.   If it were National Park Servic or National Monument land, that would be sufficient to make it off limit.   But the mission of the Forest Service is much different than that of the Park Service  and many National Forests do permit prospecting.  I will say, though, that there is a very powerful group that has steadily been taking over at the Department of the Interior for the last 40 + years that is bound and determine to make everything any department of the federal government off limits to anything except for hiking and picture-taking, etc (and then only with official "permits")
