Hi All:

Living here in Missouri- there have been more Jesse James treasure leads then Elvis sightings. I'm usually a very optimistic person but when it come to Jesse and his gang- I turn into a pessmist as I've heard it all when it comes to these leads. Still- I wish them luck but.....

Steve

LMAO.... Grin...That was the best Goldfinger, Thank you for a great laugh

By the way- I'm more of into the prospecting end then treasure hunting but the only treasure I know given up by the James gang was a pistol found in the countryside that was owned  Cole Younger- a member of the gang. There may have been some other treasure found attributed to them but I'm not aware of it.

Steve

There is a man here in Missouri that did find some of Jesse James treasure. He found what was called a treasure tree and decoded it and pulled up a fruit Jar full of gold coins I don't remember the value but it was a lot. The show was on the discover channel.

I seriously doubt anyone in the James gang was smart enough to encode the location of a particular treasure. These were just a bunch run of the mill thieves who garnered national attention and not the particularly bright ones some people perceive them to be.

I emailed the reporter that wrote the article to see if any loot was found. He was a bit snitty in reply saying he'd write a follow up story one way or the other - I knew at the time he was blowing me off.  Undecided

I perceive them as being victims of the war. Kind of like Warren Zevon's lyrics in the Frank & Jesse James song. Sue

"On a small Missouri farm
Back when the west was young
Two boys learned to rope and ride
And be handy with a gun
War broke out between the states
And they joined up with Quantrill
And it was over in Clay county
That Frank and Jesse finally learned to kill

After Appomattox they were on the losing side
So no amnesty was granted
And as outlaws they did ride
They rode against the railroads,
And they rode against the banks
And they rode against the governor
Never did they ask for a word of thanks"
