Go Up Go Down

Got me a pretty decent pellet gun for getting rid of the pesky starlings and house sparrows out back. We've also had a rat problem, but before the gun arrived, I managed to trap the suckers and whap 'em with a rubber mallet!  Grin

First shot was way off (too low), then read the directions, and adjusted it a bit higher - by the third shot it wasn't too bad.

It's a Crosman pump-action.
I'm pretty old though so I may get an inexpensive scope for it so I can see a bit better.

I've killed so many birds and critters in my day, I just can't do it any more...not even the starlings that I've always disliked (and killed by the dozens) but rats in or around the house is a different story Round About...they get poison or a heavy object if in reach.
Had Crossman, Sheridan, 22, 177, CO2,  pump, spring, pistols, rifles...lots of dead stuff...I repent Pray.
I'm one of those who "couldn't hurt a fly" now Angel...actually I still kill flies and yellow jackets when they intrude, but as for the spiders and bees, etc., they live. Great
Still have an old Crossman CO2 pistol and a couple of 22 rifles besides my serious defense units.
I should really get rid of that pistol that I haven't used in 35 years Idiot

The primary reason for getting it was for the rat control. We have chickens in our back yard, and I've read on a chicken forum that rats have been known to kill chickens. In addition to that, they also carry diseases which I just don't want hanging around our chickens. My wife finally agreed to the deal when she saw the "rat-Bert" out there in the back yard munching on some chicken feed (that the chickens scatter around from the feeder), and decided that it's OK for me to get it.
So, poisoning or other methods of disposing the rat(s) wouldn't have worked because of the chickens.
And - it's good clean fun too!
 Grin

Those rats do get a bit 'gamy' after a couple days of sitting in our garbage can. Even with them covered up with a couple inches of cut grass and leaves, they still stunk it up!
