As all of you aware- the Town of Greensburg was 95% destroyed by a tornado last week. Greensburg is the closest town near the Brenham strewn field and was used as a base of operations for meteorite hunters.

The meteorite community is having a raffle with the proceeds going to the townspeople. This project just got started and there will be many more prizes donated as time goes on.

For $10.00 you can purchase a chance to win some nice meteorites. You can pay via Paypal or you can send your donations by mail.

Did you read where the 1000 pound meteorite the town had on display was missing after the tornado? They found it relocated and under a pile of rubble - certainly gives one a sense of the intensity of that tornado.

Neat that the meteorite community is having a raffle to raise money for the townspeople - I've already donated, but I'm going to purchase some chances to win a meteorite. What a great idea and thanks for sharing the info. Sue
