Let us bring in a little common sense here shall we?
There may be very good reasons why members may NOT want to show finds.
Laws on treasure are very different all over the world.
Please don't be niaive enough to think that Archeologists do not monitor detecting sites.
They very much do!
In Europe, bronze age, celtic, roman, medieval finds are turned up DAILY.
Hoards are pretty common too.
It may be that in your particular country, if you have found something, it either belongs to "the state" , or it's taxable, whatever...... no question, it is taken from you.
Generally driven by "the Arkies" (THE biggest heritage theives on the planet).
Don't beleive me? ...... case in point:

Recently a very fine collection of ancient coins was sold by the widow of...... a county archeologist!

Even here in the U.K. where our laws on treasure trove are a bit more liberal, "the arkies" hate metal detectorists.
Partly because they are jealous (a lot of detectorists are way more clued up on history than these so called "professional archeologists")
Mostly because finds aren't going into their back pockets!
Personally I would like to see the "finds" area restricted to members with over 100 postings!
Comments like "Maybe you have some in the closet" really are not constructive......

If members are involved in lying, stealing and criminal activity then they should be exposed not protected. Treasure hunters who act illegally make everyone look bad. We live in lands of law, laws without which the rule of the most brutal and strongest would prevail. Know of a treasure hunter who is a criminal, then turn them in or risk the case of your implication. There is only one way to treasure hunt and that is to do it within the law while causing harm to no one.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick.
In no way do I condone anything illegal.
I can, however, see reason why some may not wish to show their finds.
Let's say I discover a massive hoard tomorrow.
Well, there is NO WAY I'm going to broadcast the fact until it's been through the U.K. "treasure" process.
For a good variety of reasons - mostly to do with legalities!

Outback . I will make a few things clear to you so you understand how I react to things .  I am 70 years old and have been diving and TH all over this world . My first adventure was with Prof Dr . Hans Hass in salvaging a submarine , sunk near Singapore . I was still a very youg man then  ( 1957 )   . All my life I have stood up for the underdog , the little guy  and I have always called a sade  a spade . These are habits of mine that backfired on me quite a few times . Mostly the glory hounds that did not want to be corrected  attacked me . Many times the formed a gang to get at me . Still I always stood up for the little guys .  So when a bunch got together and demanded me being banned from a  forum they usually won . Even on the Treasure Net , where I had more than 2500 posts . they got to me .  This is what  ,and who , I am . Too old to change right now . And franckly I don't want to change because I can look in the mirror every day and tell myself , you did it the right way .   Cornelius

Me too Cornelius,  and I can say it honestly, except you would call me a liar, without apology. That's the difference. No no! Dell

Cornelius, This is a skill worth learning no matter how old you are.

Tactful Diplomacy
1. Process of conducting activities with another with tact in order to bring about a good relationship.

Being rude and condescending in regard to others is not sharing your opinion it is being mean and hateful. When done in person it often results in a bloody nose. If you have been run out of other forums maybe you should take another look in that mirror to see the cause.

All my life I have taken great pride in my honesty, and abiding by the law. Not even so much as a speeding ticket.

When Ronald Regain signed the Shipwreck bill, I was suddenly branded a criminal at the stroke of a pen. It wiped me out financially, and has prohibited me from doing what I love, Diving for Treasure.  Yes, In the eyes of the law, I am a criminal. Dell

ORO . I have plenty of friends , even on the Treasure Net . We still correspond , although it is done by PM's . I have all their E-Mail numbers . Now if I am part of a forum to overlook mistakes and mis quotes made I am not doing my job . I am not mean and hateful but sometimes there is a hiatus in the languages used . This is an International forum as you know . Further I have nothing to say about this subject . Regards  Cornelius
