Hello All

You can imagine a fisherman bragging about their biggest catches and each retelling the catches gets a little bigger. Grin

Well here is one for the treasure hunters and prospectors a gold nugget that would make prospectors eyes would pop out. Shocked

But seriously it is not a  nugget at all but a granite boulder covered with gold Leaf. It is shrine in Burma ( Myanmar ) in English called The Golden Rock.

Local legend says in the 11th century says King Tissa moved the rock to this cliff top perch and built a 5m tall Pagoda on top containing a hair from Buddha, under the advice of a Hermit.

Legends say that the hair counterbalances the rock. The Boulder is so finely balanced that young boys push it to show easy it can be moved. How this boulder stays perched on the cliff edge is a complete mystery. The Gold leafed boulder does not appear to touch the rock it is perched upon.

The full name of the shrine is called Kayaik-I-thi-ro meaning Pagoda carried by hermit of back of the head.

Hardluck  Wink
