Go Up Go Down

I held a position of real authority over peoples lives for 30 years.  At first I came across as being harsh or uncaring, but to me I was just doing my job.  Then I watched another man in the same level of authority who would perform the same tasks as me only people would shake his hand and sometimes thank him for it.  I learned from him that you can discipline people, take hours away from their jobs, even have people put in jail, and allow them to keep their self respect.  From that day forward my moto was "I will show everyone respect until they just won't let me".  The people who wouldn't let me were the people who tried to physically hurt me while I did my job.  Folks, manners and civility never go out of style.  I learned in a very hard job sometimes under dire circumstances that they were my best friend, and to disrespect anyone is without excuse.  We are all grown men and women on these boards, and as human beings we all deserve common courtesy.  Manners and civility are even more appreciated when done by those in authority.  In one national pole conducted in America, workers said that what they wanted more than better wages was to be respected and thought of as an important member of the team.  I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but from my perspective in America it looks to me as if we are losing our civility as a people.  We get honked at, thrown the finger, called names and berated as if we don't matter as a human being.  With just a few exceptions, it has been different here on these boards.  Most everyone here is friendly, polite, caring and persoanally RESPECTFUL.  From what I have heard, its what sets THunting apart from other forums.  I would like to encourage all members to follow the golden rule, and treat others as you want to be treated, whether you are a first time member, or a moderator.  I personally pledge never to attack another member.  I may attack their idea, as well as you may attack my ideas.  And I pledge from this time forward to call out those who personally attack anyone on my threads, no matter who they are.

cc.: Christian

First off they are not your threads once posted they become property of the forums and if members are attacking members a mod needs to be notified and they can handle the problem.
Other then that well said.

I wish we had that luxury, mate. I seriously do.

I must admit that this site has some of the best people on it and I have read post on numerous sites that do not compare to this one. I have NEVER seen so many people that actually care so much and are so willing to go out of their way to find solutions for people's problems. I guess sometimes some people think that they get what they want when they want. Metal detecting is a hobby that takes years to master and the same is true with all the equipment changes out there. Keep up the good work and know that this site will keep growing and so will the field that we all love so much............ Great Great Great Great Great Great  Warren
