Personally, I'd be hesitant about making judgements on how quickly an inscription would weather unless I knew a whole lot about the type of rock inscribed, how well protected from the elements it is, what the typical climate for the location is etc.
Rules of thumb are just that, and some of them only apply with in a very limited context (like the ones I've seen in the boards about how quickly a coin will settle through the soil).

Digger, if you ever get the chance to get more pictures of these, I would sure like to see them.

Thank you all for replies posted.  We are hoping for clear weather so that we can make another trip up, will hopefully get better pictures taken next time and will continue to post in the hopes that someone is able to inform on writings.

Beneath the rock face are what look to be stone built walls of abodes. Now all they could have been were shelters for shepherds or livestock. There is also a small flowing river close by.  We will be snooping about in the hope of unravelling its mystery.

The area is quite exposed although there are trees about with lot of bramble bush. Moderate snow fall in winter.

Kind regards
Diggerbarns

Don't take the critics to seriously--You have something. If you are interested I will look at what you have and give you some good advice.
I don't want anything from it either.

I guess we were onto something here but think we have lost it.  Hows that for luck?  There was a lull in the weather so decided to pay the area another visit. Horrified we found that a new road has been cleared up to the area and quite a lot of digging has been going on. Doesn't look like the work of archaeologists.  Further damage has been done to the rock face scribbles. Hmmmm what do they know that we don't know? Obviously not much judging by holes dug.

But, curiosity has most certainly got the better of us and we want to identify the 'snitches'. Once the weather warms up we're off a snooping.  We don't give up that easily.

Wyoming: Thank you for reply. Nope,I don't take anything to heart.  In this ball game its best to keep open minded.

Kind regards Diggerbarns
