think i'm gonna do some gold finding this spring/summer..not certain what i'll use but leaning towards this beeper here..can somebody recomend anything more productive?? Huh?

you can do it a whole lot cheaper with a sluice box and a gold pan.  The gold in PA is so fine unless you plan on going to Calif, Arizonia, or Austrailia I really don't think you will get your money's worth with a gold beeper.  just my $0.02 Doc

Most any old detector will detect big gold, what the gold detectors do is allow it to be detected in bad ground, highly mineralized and with hot rocks.

Sure, coil size=depth generally. Put an 18 inch coil on your 80$ machine and it will likely detect large gold a foot deep or so in good ground.

I NEVER TRIED THAT~I KNOW IVE HAD PLENTY O BOUNTY HUNTERS..BUT THEY DONT GO DEEP..GREAT MACHINE..NO DEPTH @ MORE THAN 6"..BUT NEVER TRIED BIG COIL.SOUNDS LIKE I'D HAVE TO BE SWINGIN A MANHOLE COVER AROUND Grin

I think if i was goin for desert gold i'd get a Fisher gold bug, they real good and just cost a fraction o the minneylab, and a whole lot lighter, that's what i'd do, But i sure do like the Minelabs,  my  $.02  worth   =====and u got a PM from me on glass Cheesy
