Maybe bad karma is attracted to you. I most certainly hope not.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Emmmmm.   Fail to see what Karma had to do with that.    Hell, I fail to see why we have to pay $35.00 to see what's going on that we can't see in our own property called a Park.

I have a lifetime pass for federal parks, and i purchase a 1 year pass for state parks. Can't understand why I  have to pay for a pass and still have to pay taxes for the same thing. That's double taxation.

Yes, We use to buy the Golden Eagle Pass for all State Parks here in NM.   Then they started to charge for all the stuff you do in the Parks.

Hell   We use to pay $14.00 to get a dry camp spot.  Now they have you pay for just about any and every thing.   Want a BB-Q  $2.00   Want a Over Head Cover? $15.00.  Want within 200 yards of the lake?  $5.00.   Get my hint?

The Golden Eagle Pass was like $95.00 for the year and just got you in the gate.

No argument here. Clapp
But the park budgets here in Texas have been cut to the bone.
Doubt they would want to take on the added time drain to issue the permits.
No way it would happen if they had to add someone for the permitting.
Not trying to shoot your idea down, just mentioning the problem here.

A few years back (late 70's, early 80's) Arizonans voted to devert a percentage of state and national lottery money to help fund the park systems. That plus moneys from the general fund, and other taxes fund our parks. Why should we have to pay to get into one and pay again for any amenities? America was founded on revolution because of excessive taxes. Hope the politicians get that through their heads.

Here in Oregon you can detect State Parks  IF  you get the permission of the park ranger in charge.   At least that was the way it was last time I checked!
