Thank you Cache. I really enjoyed that contest. What a blast. It got my mind to thinking again. What a nice find for you. I have found a few matchbook cars, but no other brands. I have only 1 collector car. A 1957 Chevy. I will PM you my address

Now, with all that said...........Why would it say 200SX below the doors on both sides of the car like in the 1st pic carl posted above, when it says Nissan Silvia on the bottom of this car I have and mine has the 200SX as well? Researching "200SX" brings up Datsun?  I'm baffled?Huh?     I would say the toy maker screwed up?      Here's a picture of my small collection of found cars...

Datsun Was the Market name used in the US for Years.    They reverted to Nassan the Real Japanese Makers name later.   I worked a Datsun Dealer for a year or so as a kid and the 200sx looked nothing like that.    It was a Fastback at that time.

Thanks, Homie
I did hundreds of searches, But didn't find any clues until yesterday. What I concentrated on was the door pillar, because it was serrated. The only car I have ever seen with that was a Datsun 280Z, my sweetheart used to own. The other features were the gas door on the passengers side, the opera window (unusual shape) and red seats. Not a usual factory install, but Nissan did). Opera windows were a fad in the 70's and 80's. What clinched it was the number on the rear plate. (can barely see it in photo) That led me to Tomy Tomica. Rest was easy.
Dusty Carl

Sorry guys, I know you all tried hard, but in the end I must have tried harder. The contest sure generated a lot of traffic, and I would like to see another one. Maybe even start one myself. I just got to get something that would make it interesting, but not too easy.

Because the car was sold under different names, Tomy Tomica wanted to represent both vehicles with one casting (to save money). Just painted a different decal on the side. Nissan made the Silvia, and Datsun made the 200-SX. The decals were an invention of Tomica. I saw now photos of real vehicles with them.

Take a look at the opera window and the door column on a 1981 280Z. That was my 1st clue.

When you get it cleaned up, be sure to post a photo for all to see.
