Very nice pictures - thanks for sharing. My wife & I are both bird watchers. We also have lots of back-yard birds (not counting our chickens of course) that come to our feeders - Robins, Chickadees, lesser & American goldfinches, downy woodpeckers, flickers, doves, and soon to get hummingbirds once it warms up a bit. Every once in a while we'll get a raptor that decides he wants to have a go at some of the birds eating off the feeders! That's quite a site to see.

Went out today looking for meteotites in SW Wisconsin... hopefull again tomorrow... However while we didn't find any meteorites.. I captured something rare from where I am from and are considered endangered...a pair of Sand Hill Cranes...a male and female... the male has the red top to his head.....One of the benefits of not sitting in front of the TV..but getting out and while you may not be successful in your prospecting, meteorite or treasure hunting... just enjoy what natire brings your way... Hope yu enjoy the picture as much as I did actually seeing then live....
I've seen those here in Perry county a couple of them once, I wondered what those kinda birds were,Thanks! Thats a rare occurance around here also!

Thanks BA for the explanation I knew that there had to be a good reason but did not think about the migration bit.

Zul32 as soon as I have some time I will go through my pics and select the better one's of the birds that I took shot's of and mail them to you perhaps you will recognize some of them.

My wife just called me on the phone a few minutes ago, and we have our first hummingbird on the feeder out in our backyard, and also a Lazuli Bunting on the seed feeder!
Here's a picture of what one looks like:

Heh love to watch the hummers buzz about. Sometimes they will perch above the feeder and wait till another comes to feed and divebomb em  Grin Get 5 or 6 darting about and its quite a circus.

We have Sand Hills at our place in Fl. They have signs posted to watch out for them while driving.

Sand Hills are fun to watch, but then the same thing applies to a lot of the larger birds.   Most are not nearly as ungainly as they appear at first glance.

Sandhills just plain look cool! I rescued a pelican not too long ago in Venice. Son of a gun had a lure hooked in his leg and the line was wrapped around his legs and beak. What a mess. I grabbed him and another guy showed up and cut away the line. Then I "operated" on the stuck lure. What amazed me was how fragile his beak was. I had to keep his mouth closed during the ordeal and that giant beak felt like super thin plastic! I was afraid I was going to crush it!.  Any how, the pelican went his way and I went back to the Surfmaster..... didn't find any coins or jewelry either..

Too bad about you not finding anything good on that day but I'll bet there was one very happy Pelican
