I need to either back away from the keyboard or learn not to drool so much.   With or without a detector, that be a great area to explore.

Go Up Go Down

oh and it is, wether you go up there with a metal detector or GPS, or just a camera to shoot the landscape, you;ll never leave feeling dissapointed.  it really is beautiful up there.  you go up a single road from helper utah and there are three canyons on your right as you continue on the road.  each turnoff to a canyon leads you to a ghost town, there's three of the right in a row, as soon as the weather is good enough for me to go to my cabin, i'll deffinately be hiking around back there.  they say that the third one is haunted by a woman all dresses in white who watches you from trees, fields, the windows of abandoned house, tec.  the ghost towns leading up up  to it have grafiitti that say " she's always watching" and then there will be a picture of an eye staring at you

i don't know if how long ago it was, but there was a man who had said he'd had enough of the ghost, and actually went to the two story abandoned building where everyone kept reporting her sightings.  well, he blew the place up with the dyanamite, but who knows what happened with the lady in the dress.

That looks like a ton of fun! Utah has some great spots. I hope to have some pictures later this month of an old ghost "town" out in Uintah county. And hopefully a few treasure to go along with it. Wink

yeah, i went to a museum in helper, Utah and they are the ones that first told me the ghost story, and then the locals and graffiti written in the buildings is where i heard the rest of the sightings stories.  hey...maybe she's hanging around waiting for someone to metal detect for her lost golden wedding ring, i might just invite myself up there and find it for her and set her soul free. You better leave the ring alone.... she might put a spell on your detector or fog your film (whoops.... no more film)  Grin

Wow! What a place to explore. I would probably have my camera in one hand and the detector in the other!!

yeah, there are three of these ghost towns evenly spaced....it's an awesome area, last night i reasearched a couple of mine disasters at those paricular ghost towns, and found a cool website about disasters through out our history, you can click on the sperate states and read all sorts of disasters like fires, explosion, plane crashes, mine explosions etc.  here's the link, check it out

Hello toleary34

Thank you for the interesting post and the great pictures.

What a beautiful and interesting part of the world.

Do you know if these ghost towns where mining towns?
