Keep your eyes open for a book entitled
Those Forgotten Places Vol 2: Utah by D. Gordon McNab. Published by Western Research Co in Reno, Nevada in 1987. If you can find a copy of that, you've found yourself a gold mine of long lost places (many of which very few people have ever heard of). Each place has a hand drawn map to it. The author visited most of the places. The book looks like it is made of mimeographed sheets bound with a plastic coil/comb binding. It should be an 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick. If you can find a copy for sale, you can expect to pay in excess of $75.00 (but it is worth it).
If you live near enough to one of these places to use their library, you should be able to find a copy there (although it will probably be in the non-circulating reference):
Provo: Harold B. Lee Library @ Brigham Young University
St. George: Dixie State College Library
Salt Lake City: J. Willard Marriott Library @ the University of Utah
Salt Lake City Public Library (probably at the main location).
There are two other volumes......Volume 1 (which I own) covers Arizona. Volume 2 covers Northern Nevada. All 3 are extremely difficult to find but well worth the search.
