Go Up Go Down

I had been to Dewey numerous times and walked the ruins but it wasn't until I found this picture in an old album just how thriving it once was. Today there is not much to see, just a fallen in mill and a concrete building. One would never guess what once stood there.

Some of the gold from here I am sure went into the luxurious Dewey Palace that once stood in Nampa about 50 miles from Dewey although most apparently came from the Thunder Mountain works. Unfortunately like the town of Dewey the Palace languished and was finally razed in the 60s.

Its easy to get to once the Silver City road opens in a couple more months. Just head to Silver City and turn right at Jordan Creek and follow it a few miles. Dewey is on the left side, big tailings cant miss it.

Gold Silver and Cinnabar(raw mercury) from what I hear. Jordan Creek has color in it, I've panned it some years back. Last year the whole place was full of prospectors in suvs and scetchers. The mine shaft I use as my Icon is near there as well, up on a mountain near WarEagle. It's a fun place to explore just have to watch for snakes and ticks.

The road in late April last year

Silver City and Dewey are just off left of the picture. This was taken near the Fairview cemetary.

Go Up Go Down

I've been quite a few places in Idaho but there are a few I haven't seen yet and really want to visit still. Smiley Currently at the moment I am making a living as an artist, but I've worked a lot of different jobs to afford stuff like mining gear, detectors, 4x4s, and gas for em all. Grin  I own more camping gear than any normal human should....

The Owyhees, Snake River canyon and Silver City area are kinda out my back door so I like to wander up there a lot. As a kid I would ride my bike down into the canyon and look for indian caves and treasure! There are a few more old towns and places I will post about when I find the pictures.
