To begin, it is best to determine which type of jewelry you are drawn to and what you think you may want to attempt to make. Don't start out with anything overly complicated, especially if you don't have any tools at your disposal. Beginning to make jewelry can become quite the investment in time and materials if you are unsure of the kind of jewelry you will be spending the majority of your time making. The last thing you want to do is lose money if jewelry is something you plan to do for income. Don't go out and drop lots of money on an oxy/acetylene torch for soldering and annealing if you only plan to work using fabrication and cold connection techniques.
