Last I've heard, all Mr Dimas struck was water, if the vault of Ali Pasha is down there it's flooded. Mr Dimas has promised to come back later and try again.

Hey any of you guys decide to go for a look be sure to get someone of the area because those mountains contain many sharp edges and some very poisons snakes. My fam. is from Montenegro which is next door and there are a lot of treasure stories from looting from war parties burying to come back later, but very hard to find. Kind of like a need in hay stack. But for those water hounds plenty of coast!!!! 8)

Hello All
Like with all areas of the world nothing beats local knowledge.
Ali Pasha was a dictator and he would of never been very far from his wealth. If there is any hidden wealth to be found I think will be found near his palace where he was killed and beheaded. He was still counting on a Pardon from the Turks when he was murdered.

You're allright: "...Io?nnina which is a region in Albania" or "...Io?nnina which was a region in Albania".
In fact, Io?nnina was the capital of the State of Ali Pasha, called Pashalik (Turkish: Paşalık) of Io?nnina, which comprises a vaste area most of which inhabitetd from albanians. Io?nnina itself, of course was inhabitetd mostly from albanians, but the surroundings were entirely inhabited from albanians. Later this region is called Vilayet of Io?nnina. There was four albanian vilayets: the vilayets of Ioannina, Monastir, ?skub, and Shkod?r. They altogether representing Albania and were inhabited from albanians.

Are you talking about a picture or the entire topic? To enlarge the letters for the entire topic, use the control key and the plus key. To reduce it later, use the control key and the minus key.

Vangelis Dimas, a Greek-Australian treasure hunter has begun a search in the mountains of central Greece. He is searching for the treasure of a notorious 19th century Ottoman pasha. He is determined and will not give up. In twenty days he is expected to start digging again. The treasure is believed to be enough to plug the country?s vast debts, state TV says. Vangelis Dimas is financing the excavation to locate the hoard of Ali Pasha near the village of Vassiliki. Vasiliki is 352 km. north-west of Athens.
The treasure hunter visited recently the new mayor of Kalambaka, Mr. Sakellariou, to seek permission to start a new excavation in the same location. A few months ago, the drilling machine brought to the surface large quantities of water, which could be used for the irrigation of the area. The life of the residents of the area has radically changed during the last months. Since the announcement of this ambitious project, many journalists and news agencies from Greece and abroad want to learn more about the legendary treasure of Ali-Pasha.
