Hi all, does anyone know a link of good aerial historic maps in Canada?  More specifically Manitoba?

I think you'll find that Google Maps and Google Earth do a fine job on that front.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Only in the major areas do they provide any real good detail.  I seen in the states there is a website of old aerial photograph's that you can use to compare how it looks today.  Wasn't sure if something like that was available in Canada.

In the UK, there are Ordnance Surveys done using aerial photos. In America, there are aerial surveys done by the Coast and Geodetic Survey (past) and the National Oceanic Survey (present). Surely Canada has an equivalent to those. Start at your local library and ask there. Librarians are extremely deep wells of information.
