Got the new Fisher F2 today. Ordered on Wed. and got today (Chicago to SoCal)! Was at a local park about an hour later. It's quite sensitive, and I really like the pinpoint feature. The free pinpointer is not too bad once you dial it in right. I thought it was junk until i read the instructions re: how to to tune it. Found 2 quarters, 2 pennies, all clad, some 4-5 inches deep. Only spent less than an hour there. I've got to put some hours into but it seems like a nice unit. Hoping to get out this weekend and put it through the paces, and try out the 4" coil.

Thanks for the info. Very encouraging and inspiring words, Mike. I usually run the sensitivity at 3 bars and today I found a 30.30 shell at 8-9 inches. I then re-checked my hole and still had a sold silver hit, (that is why I originally dug) but I gave up as it was a quartz/silica mine and I was mostly digging through rocks. Today was my 2nd outing, but I need to do some more research and find some old areas to search. I want some old coins!

just take your time with the F2,search slow and dig every signal(ok you can notch iron and foil out when your in the park), try it with the sensitivity right down, clear all the trash out, then redetect that area again with the sensitivity slightly higher, and you should notice the results atomicsocal,I had great fun with that detector last year,ok its not a top of the range detector, but well worth it at that price, wish you lots of luck with the F2
