First, having owned a number of metal detectors over the past thirty years or so, I have come to the conclusion that the most fun detectors I have owned were not the high end metal detectors that you pay a arm and a leg fore but the lower end models .such as the fisher F2 and the tecnetics delta. they have good depth and I will dig less trash with thease detectors then the hign end detectors. Theas detectors are fun because I have owned $800.00 detectors that couldn't discriminate out a bottle cap. Some of thase hign end detectors detected almost every piece of metal known to mankind.I know alot of people will disagree with me but thats my openion. I am mostly a coin shooter like most . Save your money and  buy a good lower end detector and you might enjoy the hobby alot more and save alot of your hard earned money

Without Doubts some lower and mid level detectors of today have become formidable machines.

The higher end detectors tend to be geared around specific hunting or Multi Use machines.

It all boils down to Knowing your machine.

Welcome From NM.

 Cool

Well I will only comment on detectors I have used that are on the lower or mid range and those are the Fisher F2 and the Delta 4000.  Beleive me thease are very good detectors and to make a choice between the two I would go with the Delta.I also own a Fisher F5 with a 11" coil and Tec T2 and neither can discriminate out a bottle cap which when coin hunting in city parks and picnic areas are a pain in the rear. I will stick to the F2 or my trusty Delta 4000 when coin hunting and the learning curve on thease mid range detectors And the pen pointing is pretty simple and to the point.I would also like to comment on The higher end Tecnetics T2 and Fisher F5. The biggest pain for coin shooting is the Tec 2.It would pick out almost every piece of metal known to mankind, I figure this machine would be used more or less for gold hunters and for finding small pieces of jewlery or in areas with low trash. If you like to dig this is the machine for you and you will do better on your finds because of its sensitivity and depth but you will work harder for your finds. Some people love digging ,I don't. I guess all that extra bending and digging at my age is finally catching up to me.The Fisher F5 is a good machine but bottle caps here are again a problem when coin shooting.
