Hay Quizpro,

The depth should be very close between the two.

The X2 has a coin check that some people like.
The Conquistador does not have coin check. It
may or may not be useful to you.

The Conquistador has a threshold based all metal
mode. The X2 does not have that feature. The all
metal mode in tha X2 is a motion discriminate mode
without any dics applied.

The Conquistador has an advantage in a deeper and
more sensative all metal mode......... It will give an
advantage over the X2 if you use the all metal. Some
Tesoro users do not even use the all metal. They pin
point well without it.

Hope that helps,

Tabdog

Motion discriminate describes the hunting mode of the X2 while in the
discriminate mode. It is the same as the all metal mode in the X2, but
it has no discrimination applied. In other words, the all metal mode and
the motion discriminate mode are one in the same, except the all metal
mode has no discrimination in the circuitry.

The Conquistador has a threshold setting knob. The threshold can effect
the discriminate mode some, but it is principally for setting a threshold
hum in the all metal mode. The all metal mode on the Conquistador is a
"non-motion" all metal mode. It is more sensative and it goes deeper on
the Conquistador, or the X2.(I think this is correct from what I have learned.)

I have never used the X2, but it is a Silver uMax with a coin check and a red
button for pin pointing.

The Conquistador is the same as the Silver Sabre uMax, but the Conquistador
has a switch for all metal and the SS uMax has a red button.

The Silver Sabre cost $240. The Conquistador cost $300 because of the addition
af a non-motion, threshold based all metal mode.

Finding more coins may be because of the assistance of the coin check. Some
people like it.

I do not hunt for coins. I am west of the Mississippi. Indians until after tha
Louisiana Purchase. The people that were here after that did not have money
as we know it.

My uncle never saw any money. Not even a penny. Not until he left home at
age 15 and got a job paying $0.15 a day.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

You're right about the friendly people, Quizpro. This really is a great site and I'm learning daily here. By the way, I am more than 1/4 Native American. How about you?

Regards and Happy Hunting,
Ken

Thank you VERY MUCH.
As you said things are not always as they look.
I have been looking for a new detector. i have been a Whites man for almost 20 years but,
Tesoro have very good reports and the price of even the most expensive of there line of detectors its only a fraction of what a Vectra v3 will cost.
Thank you again for your time.
Kind regards
Nickel

Hay Nickel,

I have not used Whites, but very knowledgable
people say that many of them out perform the
Tesoro models. I do not doubt that.

Tesoro should be no match for the ETrack.

But, in heavy trash, I like the Compadre.
The Compadre rules in a tot lot.

But, it does not have a lot of depth on a
coin. It is better on small low conductors.
The older Tesoro like tha Golden Sabre were
known to have limited depth.

The depth of most Tesoroes is roughly
equal to the Ace 250, until you get to
small low conductors like gold, mini balls
and buttons.

I would guess that the Tejon is close to
the Whites MXT. Tejon is the deepest of
the Tesoros.

I stay with the uMax 2 pound machines.

Lots of folks get one. They turn it on, use
it and put it back in the box. How the HeII
are they gonna use that thang?

But, it is my cup of tea.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
