It is currently not in production but a new model is being released soon. Same equipment, just a different case is the rumor.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Sorry, I meant the Tesoro tiger shark.  Is this a waterproof version of the silver sabre and are the latest tesoro machines any better?

Its more a Bandido/Laser B1 so good on land and one of the better freshwater detectors. Single frequency so not great in the salt.

Some have had coils fail though the older Tesoro's coils did sometimes suck in water.

When you first said Sand Shark I thought you might have seen the ads on E-Bay. Those cheap Sand Sharks are Chinese not Tesoro. I expect they will suck in a few though.

Thanks for the comments.  It is a little unstable in salt water but still get a depth of 4-6 inches.  Still  on the first set of batteries.  I wonder whether I should buy an Excalibur 11?

The Excalibur will certainly give you much more depth and there's not to much choice if you want to get in the water and discriminate. You could pick up a Fisher CZ20 but as your in the U.K. and its locked in a salt mode setting you will find it glides over hammered silver without a beep and there's quite a lot of hammered all round the coast.

I've still got a Whites Beach Hunter I.D. but even supertuned its behind the Minelab.

if you can cope with digging iron then pulse can provide more depth cheaper but you still get what you pay for. The very expensive Aquastar II runs at around 10uS and small gold becomes visible that most of the others at 15uS (Tesoro Sandshark 22uS, I think) just pass by.
