Hello all; I just was hoping someone had experience with a Bounty Hunter/ fortune hunter. I just got it new and am as green as they come. But I am retired and have plenty of time to learn and I am not afraid to ask stupid questions. 1. what is the best way to zero-in on a target? and 2.how to avoid pull tabs/caps/nails/screws ?

1.  No Such thing as a Stupid Question.

2.  Use the Pin Point feature and Criss Cross the coil over the target until you can visualize a location of the target in the ground.

3.  Learn the Tones until you can tell the difference between Pull tabs and Gold rings which will NEVER HAPPEN!   LOL

Lately I hear tones when the detector is still in the vehicle....       That aside, you'll find a lot of help here.

WOW;  I thought I found some old stash, on the side of my house. I got a very strong signal so I dug down about 5 in and found a box, like a rusted 5 in. heavy metal box, BUT EMPTY AS COULD BE, rusted through. But, I sure got the rush when I first saw it. LOL  I did find a 1967 dime in the back yard.  Thanks for the welcome  sparrowlink

Welcome Sparrowlink. Read the instructions and do what it says. Then repat. repeat. repeat. Get out and learn what your machine is telling you by DIGGING EVERYTHING untill you have the languge figured out.  Grin It's all about the trill of discovery anyway.
