anyone know where to get good info on the swastika...NOT NAZI...but for ancient swastikas, as in hindu or buddist swastikas or the "sauvastika" plus some info on the manji from japan? i know buddist one was found in afganistan. and egyptians had there own version.and that prior to nazi it was a symbol of life, sun, power, good luck and protection of evil.

you should find lots of information on swatiskas in any pre-world war II book of symbols...it was a popular symbol worldwide including among the Native American tribes.

cheers, its in realtion to an ancient site, where all archelogical info has been extensively recorded....well so they thought. guess they missed the asian writings on the wall as well. or how using ancient egyptian navigation can pin point five key monuments. when in history they were not ment to be there.
however the swastika does have bird images on either side.....currently looking at the ice age swastika as well.
ty for the reply

I really would suggest spending some time in the stacks of a good library.  I'm not sure where you are located in the UK, but if you are near London or one of the universities, I would spend at least a few hours looking through their anthropology and non-Christian religious sections.

I'm attaching the url for the wikipedia entry not because I think the entry is either good or authoritative, but because the notes section should lead you to some good reference material.

ty for the link, been snooping all over net for random info at mo. unfortunately am at other end of uk. scotland. but ill heading down librarys in london at some point next yr. tracing ancestors. since i found how many nationalities are in my tree.
anyway as for site its not in uk and i am doing the research out of curiosity, since the guy who found the 5 monuments around the famous one is being seriously secretive. understandably, and national geo got all upity when he mentioned his findings.
once again ty.
