Velllllllly in-ta-wrest-in'! Cheesy

That is a higher percentage than I thought would be karat stamped.  Didn't know peeps bedecked themselves in their glitter before they went out to go play in the parks, school yards, or on the beaches.

That's 88% solid gold...
at an average of 3g per...that be...hmmmm/whirrrrrr///kachink kachink////whirrrrrr...
$953 on the low side (10K@$624) plus a few diamonds, amethysts, etc....hmmmmm....

.....woops, burnt out my calculator.

Oh, well...they ain't mine, so I'll quit droolin'   Cheesy

Hello, again.

You're kidding right?  I'm counting on those pennies.

You might consider redoing your math, Jeff.

You said you had 50# of pre-1982 coppers...that's only going to be approximately $2.00 a pound because he has no way of knowing if you are selling him the cheaper Zinc or the more valuable copper ones.

There are 3.0 avg avoir du pois grams in each pre '82 penny.
That means there are 151 cents in each av. pound.

I'm paying $0.0175 per penny, 151 x 0.0175 per, or: $2.64 a pound.
That means I'm paying 64c per pound for #2 Cu scrap --graded #2 because it's thinner than 1/8th inch per--more than your local scrap yard.

ayup...I've bid better than your scrap guy will pay you.  That's a fact due to the price protection the scrap yards are taking on copper since it has fallen 72c a pound in the futures market in the last 6weeks.

64c EXTRA per pound x 50# you stated you'd sold to me means:
$32 more in your pocket if you'd have kept your word and hauled'em to the post office as you stated you'd do.

You're right, there is no deal, as I now know your word isn't worth anything.

Don't bother changing your mind or trying to ship them anyhow, because I'll just refuse the package and you'll be out everything, including the postage, and the insurance I was also paying when they return it to you, unopened.

I'm only human, and would like to do business with a TH'er stranger who can do the math and is also an honorable man.

I've been enjoying this transaction. About the only way I'd have mailed them was to have put them in bank rolling papers in order to pack them. Pain. I don't think she understands that anyone can accumulate a lot of pennies in change, but these are "finds". Heck, it's the hunt . . . otherwise, you wouldn't have a pile of rings - they'd have all been sold.  Cheesy Sue

FYI, of COURSE, I understand about keeping things we hunters find!
I STILLl have my first 2 GOLD brit sovereigns I found at a Thrift Store jewelry counter.  The plastic sack cardboard tag was marked just over $5. for the whole sack.  These two gold pieces were plainly visible at the bottom of the baggie.

When I paid at the check out...the clerk took off 30% discount because it was TUESDAY. Go figure.  Cheesy

It just would like you to recall accurately the fact DrDtector "Jeff" publically offered ME the deal on the 50# of pennies he had (approx 7300), and I took him at his word,  said yes ...Ayup, I didn't approach him.

The guy I asked if I could make a "better offer to" was the Canadian, who offered the count the pennies contest, okay?  And I dealt with him privately.

Jeffie Poo himself was the one to post his musings outloud about $10K pennies would be worth $23K if one could do it in one day....it would be nice profit, etc.  No one, least of all me, was trying to pull any wool over his eyes.  He was hoping for $2.30 per pennie, and I was offering $0.0175 per penny.  He still accepted the deal.

I need between 13 and 14 copper pennies per bracelet for the Senior Center Art Class they have on Thursday, and their copper bracelet fundraiser.  Besides polishing and soldering, we were going to "antique" them so that any squirrel nibbles would stand out, making each one a work of individual art, instead of just cookie cutter copies.

FORTUNATELY, another forum gentleman emailed me,
offered as many as I wanted
from him for free...which is a WAY better deal than Jeff welched on.
See, there really are nice guys on here!

Turns out that guy operates a car salvage, and he's been tossing pennies into
a bin for years that he salvages out of cars before he puts them either in the crusher or in the "back 40" for parting out in a Pay 'n Pull operation.

So, Jeff really did me a favor.
Calvin is paying the postage and doesn't care about insurance.  Makes Jeff look like a piker, eh?

Just had to stick up for myself, that's all.  Happy New Year, Sweet Sue
