calico kid, you may have decent success with an excalibur or a pule machine in salt water-the infinium or white's surfmaster are good detectors-good luck searching. Detecting Great

The Whites Surf Master PI Pro and 300 are PI machines whereas the Whites Surf Master II is a VLF machine and the latter is therefore more suited to fresh water beaches or dryer sand on salt water beaches. The PI versions are what you want, and with any machine you shouldn?t discriminate in the salt water as you?ll be losing finds like rings if you do. Better dig 50 pull tabs than lose 1 ring (Takes about 40-50 seconds to dig a target unlike the 3-5 minutes on land) Great

I havent seen a follow up and looks like this thread was lost a long time back now, but figured I would also add that there are a number of machines that could be used.
The ones the guys already mentioned are fine and probably are the most desired and productive over time from the feedback of there users and the finds displayed. But you have a few other options such as the Tesoro Sand & Tiger shark models, as well as the Garrett PI machine and there new AT pro for sand & surf detecting. You also have JW Fishers PI machines available. I'm sure there are others, but thopse are your main stay choices.

Looks like The Calico Kid maybe moved out west boys!

Good luck & God speed to him-  Detecting
Jim
