After reading Javier's posting about strange events around hidden treasures in Mexico, I have to add that there are also legends of this nature in Puerto Rico as well. People in my Island say that in trying to retrieve "entierros" or buried treasures, you must first deal with the ghost of the treasure's owner. Some legends have it that deceased persons had told relatives, in dreams, where the "entierro" was located at (mostly in the owner's property), but to find it they had to come alone at midnight to the point indicated. The ghost then made its presence feel at the "entierro" site to test the person's bravery, which would make him worthy of having the treasure. Most just ran away terrified and the "entierro" remained there, even when everyone knew its location! Shocked. Others have dug and dug all day to never find the treasure because it must be dug at midnight according to the ghost's instructions. Whether it is fact or fiction, the truth of the matter is that we will always fear the unknown and when it comes to the dead, more than one will rather die poor than dealing with a ghost in the middle of the night!  Teach

At the end of the "transaction" the ghost will test you to see if you're worthy of the treasure...if done improperly you could either die or be haunted by the ghost until you lose All of the treasure you find.

Geez, That's a bit scary. I don't want to find buried treasure just something like crystals or geodes you know. That kind of stuff  Smiley

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
