Has anyone used this programming language for PI metal detector ?

I need to know if the timing routines are accurate enough.

Microcontroller type 16F877 with 20 MHz crystal

Not yet, Ron, but I'll check it out now. I'm a former third party consultant for Microchip with tons of experience. The only reason I am a "former" consultant is that I'm retired from electronics engineering now. Regarding accuracy of timing, it's the timing's ability to repeat itself that is more of the issue. If the timing is off, as in PicBasic, you can compensate because the repeat of a timing cycle is accurate. You compensate by actual measurement using test equipment.

Welcome to the forums, by the way. This is one great place to hunt for digital treasures.

Hello, I use this language for another proyects and it is excellent.
I use it with the next microcontrollers, 16F84, 16F628, 16F819 and 12F675.
It works find with all.
There is a new version of this compiler, JALV2. with the old version you only can program a few microcontrollers.
Whit this new version you can configure any microcontroller to program.
In this link you can find to download JAL V2 package

Thanks Dluca and welcome aboard.

Your second link is missing so here is the home page for JAL V2.

Thank you GoldDigger 1950 for you advice on the timing and i look forward to your comments.

Would it perhaps be better to write timing routines in assembler and call then from the main program  ?

I am only an electronics hobbyist but i have used PIC Micros in a few projects.

Regarding JAL , Elektor Electronics publish " PIC Microcontrollers , 50 Projects for Beginners and Experts " by Bert van Dam. ISBN 978-0-905705-70-5

Regards Ron

Ron, a compiler author is sure to take timing into account so I would at least run it through the paces before I assumed it was incorrect. Timing is such a critical component to a working embedded system that it would be the gravest of sins not to ensure it works properly.

And once again thank you for your advice.
