Here are two possible gadgets to make if you feel like it . One is a grab with a hollow tube along the edge . The tube is perforated and the jets spray high pressure water so that the sand will liquify making it possible to sink in the soil . The other one is a dredge , doing the same thing .  The grab was first used on the wreck of the  ,,La Lutine ,, sank in front of  Terschelling , in the Netherlands   ( 80 million on board )  . The dredge was used by Willard Bascom on the Mediterranean salvage projects .  Cornelius  (sorry  I tried to put some pictures on this thread  but 1000KB is not enough space )
