Is it difficult to install a Sunray X-1 on an Explorer II? How does one go about it?

Thanks

Sean

Hi,
No it's pretty easy.
As far as I can remember, it comes with a little switching box which you plug your coil into
and the probe. the box then plugs into the coil socket on the Explorer.
The box has a 2 way switch to select coil or probe.
Thats about it.........

How does the box attach to the upper shaft? On the Sunray website they state that you can either buy the probe already on the shaft, or send them the shaft and have it installed.

Thanks

Sean

Hi Sean,
Not sure to be honest, just going by what a friend of mine had on his S.E.

Are there similar probes from other companies?

Thanks

Hi sean,
I don't think so....
However, I don't remember my friend having to have the box "installed" I'm pretty sure it came as a kit where you just had to bolt the box to the stem.
The minelab is pretty good at pinpointing though.
Have you considered a seperate "probe"... something like a "Whites"?
The Sunray does seem a bit expensive for what it is......
One of the advantages of the Whites probe is it has a white led built in so you
can see into that hole you just dug.....

I have my own home built, but if I were to get a pinpointer I would probably get the Garrett Propointer.
