Look at the "Harbor Freight" sight for 1 to 300 dollars you can get an auto winding winch . If it is to small strip of the winder and put on a bigger one

christian:i hope this isn"t too late for your project, look for a 3rd wire winch from a trawl boat! the west coast has many boats sitting because of the buy back program, the boats can"t fish anymore and most are being converted for sport or pleasure.i"ve seen in some cases the gear goes to scrap yards!!i did a conversion of a trawller to a crab boat a few years ago and the 3rd wire was sold to another fisherman for a 1,000 bucks..the winch was built by yaquina boatworks in newport ore.the winch was hydrualic powered.a lot of fishing harbors have storage yards for the fishermen, cruise those yards and you will see all kinds of gear laying around, with the price of fuel and the fishing restrictions there"s some good deals out there!!good luck..gimp55
