OK, here are the exact plans that I used for this project:
1/ Be sure to use safety equipment suited to this kind of activity. Examples of suitable safety equipment: safety glasses, thick leather work gloves. Examples of safety equipment less suited to this kind of activity: parachute, condoms.
2/ Eye up suitable piece of wood. When it looks about right, cut piece of wood.
3/ Repeat step 2 until adequate amount of wood has been cut into shapes that look about right.
4/ Glue bits of wood together.
5/ repeat step 4 until apparatus functions as intended. Apply tape and rubber bands as necessary.
I know, it's a bit rough around the edges, but this is just a primary draft. Give me a couple of hours and I'll see if I can come up with something a bit more solid.
I need to build a better one anyway, version 1.0 does the job but it's a bit rickety. The base needs to be thicker/heavier so it doesn't move around and I'd like to figure out a way of getting the form nice and straight on the doweling - this one wiggles slightly left and right as I turn it. A drill press would be great, but I don't own one.
There is possibly a 'plan B' forming in my brain right now, though it may just be a headache. Hard to tell at this early stage.
Right, back in a bit with a build post.
Paul.
