What you need is a detector or schematic with a notch detector built in.

The site is reporting the 2009 competition so you must be preparing for the 2010 tests. There are a number of ways to analyze a return signal for the metal type. None of them is foolproof. Understand that and you will not be disappointed with the systems that are available here. You can find a few at the download area. If not suitable, try here:

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Now that's what I was looking for Hod_shaer.  Smiley I find your site very interesting in that it promotes AI and robotics. I've always been a fan of those technologies. Very exciting hobby you have there. GD is right about the difficulty in discriminating the exact metal but will the judges count it against you if the metal type your robot specifies is incorrect? The GeoTech site that GD posted is a good site and will probably be helpful to you. I wish you the best of luck and hope you will post your success here on the Forum.
Also if you would post an image of your completed robot we would all be grateful to you. Clapp

Thanks and great success, Great
Ken

Thanks a lot GD you're so helpful... You're right we are preparing for 2010 competition and the site isn't build up, because  it's on April.
And I've decided to build and test hammerhead first, as a whole I'm going to work on PI detectors. I think that, they will help us more; Then if they wouldn't suitable I'll test VLF and etc.

No the judges won?t count it against us if the metal type our robot specifies is incorrect.
You?re so kind and helpful too, I will send my photos to you, but it takes some months, Because the competition is on April and it?s soon to prepare; Because the site isn?t build and we are waiting for updated rules.

Wow! Great idea for a competition like that. It turns a serious issue into a focused event to find a solution. Those are some great pictures that made me wish I could be there next April.

Since i don't read the language, can you sum up the winning entry from 2009? How well did it do? Is it a speed test or accuracy test? Both?

Sorry I didn't see the second page !
I wish you'll be there on April 2010, even if you come as a guest.
The tests are both accuracy and speed; more mines in a definite time that is given by the judge (Autonomous De miner). But the manual is different, the teams leader or a member control it however he must not see the robot directly. I mean the robot has a camera and controls by a remote controller.
I put the whole schematic of our robot unless metal detector that isn't shown.

There is also another type of robot test in the same competition, but more harder. As I see you've interested in, I attach it here. the other types are described on the

Thanks again for the last link, Hod_shaer. It is amazing  Smiley

GD, maybe we should incorporate some of these ideas in your "Dream detector". Wouldn't it be great to just follow our equipment around instead of having to carry it??  Smiley

Good luck on your research, Hod_Shaer,
Ken
