I know there is a great and misguided intellectual prejudice against metal detecting in general because the domain of digging artifacts from the ground is highly coveted by and deemed to be the exclusive precognitive of the University Class; be it Archaeologist, Anthropologist or Garbologist. These people always cite the scavenging of native American sites in the 19th and 20th century, and rightly so but If you look at the history of professional Archaeology especially in the 19th century in Iraq, Egypt and India you will see that these professionals were simply treasure hunters with a government permit. They did more damage in a short period of time than all metal detectorist have done since the hobby was invented. There is no reason to feel guilty about this hobby. gambol Angry

Sad but true Homefire, and I am with Bomber on this one, I am sure it will reflect in the new TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) guide lines to metal detecting also,
That is if they even allow it anymore, After these shows have tainted the image of metal detecting.
