Thanks!  I'm from Corona, CA.  Wife bought me a detector some time ago -- guess she's trying to tell me something...  Looking forward to my first finds.

Yep I know Finleyville. Been up in CT last 25 or so years since the mills all closed. Was over at Westinghouse for 18 years. Last place was Scenery Hill on US 40. Your in a good area for coin and relic hunting!

Which Westinghouse? I worked for Advanced Energy Division in Large, PA (WAESD) from 1980 - 1992. Yep, know Scenery Hill, not too far from me. Where in CT, had relatives in Madison and I was there this past summer to visit Mystic Seaport.

East Pittsburgh Works 1967 to middle 80s when they closed it. Used to live almost on top of Scenery Hill. Was great for ham radio! Also lived on the other side of you in Munhall! Now in Wallingford. Maybe 25 mins from Madison. I regularly detect Hammonasset state park in Madison although all I ever find is copper shrapnel from a practice morter range from WWII. New Englanders are tough on detecting so you have to watch and get permission. Most of the local greens and town centers are a big NO NO!! Angry  I'll bet there is still some good spots to check out in South Park, once you dig out all the snap tops....!

Mudflap, yep, there is still silver to be found in South Park. I also know of a couple of haypiles that they do for kids, I hunt them when I feel like digging up 50-100 coins in a day...nothing worth anything though.

I was at Hammonasset in August, we also visited relatives staying at Waters Edge Resort. I always take my detector and it never gets out of the truck. I figured with the class of locals, there would be some good jewelery to find. I feel better now that I hear your report. I could just imagine the no-no spots around there. The old homesites from the 1600's, man I would love to hit those!

Scenery Hill has some good spots too, I would love to hit some of those old log homes on RT 40.

You'll like Thunting.com. Lots of good info and references to other cool reading. Some in- residence experts on all aspects of the hobby on here, history, coin shooting, cache hunting, drinking beer... er I mean digging old beer bottles....

I knew the owner of the Century Inn (continuous operation since 1794) but he wasn't too keen on metal detecting his property. I should be doing better in CT as Wallingford was first settled in 1670 with the locals farming from 1638. That's darn near when the medieval dragons were around!! ha ha Grin Grin There a few guys on here that are old enough to remember that... Wise
